Interview with Don C Reed
We caught up with Don Reed to discuss some of the highlights and frustrations of his work as a patient advocate and why scientists in the field must learn to speak up for their research.
Don C Reed has supported regenerative research ever since his son Roman became paralyzed in a college football accident in 1994. He sponsored California’s Roman Reed Spinal Cord Injury Research Act, source of America’s first state-funded embryonic stem cell research, and has been an integral part of numerous local, state and national efforts. A frequently published author, he received the National Press Award in 1996. A board member of the Proposition 71 campaign committee, Reed is a strong supporter of California’s US$6 billion stem cell program. He currently serves as Vice President for Public Policy of the Americans for Cures Foundation.
