ARE YOU IN DON C. REED’S NEW STEM CELL BOOK?
Dear Stem Cell Researcher/Patient Advocate:
“CALIFORNIA CURES: How the California Stem Cell Program is Fighting Your Incurable Disease” by Don C. Reed, is available from World Scientific Publishers, Inc., now.
You can buy it directly from the publisher (cheaper than Amazon!) at: https://www.worldscientific.com/doi/abs/10.1142/9789813231375
Look up your name in the bibliography below. These are some of the scientists and patient advocates whose stories are included. If you are there, congratulations! If not, drop me a line at diverdonreed@gmail.com, and let me know how your research/advocacy is going—because there will hopefully be another book!
As you know, California authorized $3 billion in stem cell research funding, of which $2.6 billion has been allocated. Lives have been saved, and suffering eased. 45 projects have reached FDA clinical trials already—steady, reliable progress.
We must keep this program alive.
As vice President for Public Policy at Americans for Cures Foundation, I have had the privilege of working with Bob Klein, who inspired and led Proposition 71: the California Stem Cells for Research and Cures Act. Will he lead the charge again?
“…the decision is in the hands of the California public. They will decide, when polled in the Winter of 2019. If they strongly support the continuing efforts of the (California stem cell program), then I am fully committed to a 2020 initiative to renew the funding of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine.”—Robert N. Klein, page 324, “CALIFORNIA CURES”.
I wrote this book, like the first, (STEM CELL BATTLES, 2015) to influence California’s decision: to report back on the quiet triumph which is CIRM.
Help spread awareness of CALIFORNIA CURES. Get a copy for your lab, share it around. Or ask for it at your local library—that would be extremely helpful.
Be welcome at my website (www.stemcellbattles.com) where you can access pretty much everything I write for free. (See especially the multi-article series “More benefits of the California Stem Cell Program”.) Sign up to get my new articles, also free.)
AND—consider joining Americans for Cures Foundation, chaired by Bob Klein. https://americansforcures.org/
Below is the book’s index—look up your name–and your colleagues!
P.S. If you are going to be in Northern California on June 12th, come to my official book launching! At CIRM headquarters, 999 Harrison Street, Suite 1650 Oakland, CA 94612 Contact Kevin McCormack for details: Kmccormack@cirm.ca.gov
