Every religion celebrates the changing of the Winter solstice: that darkest day of the year, just before the Spring begins.

To me, stem cells in general and the California stem cell agency (http:www.cirm.ca.gov) in particular, sum up the Spring of hope after the Winter of Despair, to paraphrase Shakespeare.

If you are reading this, chances are you already know about California’s stem cell program. But just in case,  go to that website, and consider signing up for their newsletter.  That way, you can get good news every day: in the midst of all the bad news that bombards our senses.

It was my joy to write a book saying why: “STEM CELL BATTLES: Proposition 71 and Beyond: How Ordinary People Can Fight Back Against the Crushing Burden of Chronic Disease– with a Posthumous forward by Christopher Reeve”. With an official publication date of December 16th, the book is available for pre-order at Amazon. com.

I have to publicize it, because it is my life work: summing up two decades of struggle, trying to figure out the science enough to share it, and to understand the politics which may help or hurt our chances of cure.

Here is an article someone was nice enough to write about it.

If you want to help, please tweet or retweet this message– and ask your library if they have the new book STEM CELL BATTLES.

However you celebrate, I wish you joy of the season!

best,

Don C. Reed
